Hi bandies , pls take note that there will be no band practice for the Sec 1s next week. For those taking part in the NDP, pls report on Wednesday (3 Aug 2011), 3pm for the full-dress rehearsal in your band uniform including :

-blazer

-black shoes (flats for girls)

-black socks

-long sleeve white shirt

-school tie

-band pants / skirt

p.s. whoever comes without any of the above without valid reason will be assassinated.

For those who have collected their blazer, pls pay Shan Qi $31.50 by Monday (1 Aug 2011).

Hi all. Mr Foong here, sharing my thoughts after the very very long day we all had yesterday.

Even though Questband received Bronze and not the Silver award, I am extremely proud of every single one for you. From a concert band that nobody wanted to attend practices to what it is today, it is already an amazing feat.

As I sat down in the S'pore Conference Hall to watch your performance, I was truly moved by your music. I could feel that all of you played from your heart. My eyes turned red and almost wept as I watched your very moving performance. It showed how much all of you have grown together, as Questband. You played MUSIC that meant a lot to you. Your commitment to Questband and your music showed. To me, that is all that matters. You played MUSIC FROM YOUR HEART.

It broke my heart when some of you cried and said sorry to me. But really, why say sorry? All your instructors, teachers and principal could tell that you have put in your best. You have put in your heart and soul. That is all that matters to us. Only say sorry if you did not put in the effort. But the fact is, all of you have put in 110% effort. In the history of Questband, I don't think any batches have come this close to attaining a Silver award like you. So take heart that you have already wayyyyy surpassed everyone's expectations.

To me, you are a GOLD band in every way. You played music that came from a heart of gold. Like what Mr Lim said, medals will rust one day. But memories of your time and effort together as Questband will forever remain in your hearts. It was very apt that the set piece was titled "Memories Of Friendship". Years after you have left QTSS, you will remember the friendship that you have forged in Questband. :)

So take heart that you were part of this journey and experience in your Sec School life. I hope all of you will grow stronger and more resilient from this.

For now, let's wish all our Sec 4 members all the best for their N/O Levels. Work hard in your studies, just as you did for your music in Questband, then you will have no regrets when you graduate from QTSS. We, your teachers and instructors, will want to see all Questband members to be amongst the top students for the N/O Levels. Yes, we always believe that Questband members can achieve anything you want, as long as you put your heart and soul into it. After your N/O Levels, we will all definitely welcome you back with open arms as Alumni members. You will ALWAYS be a part of Questband. Once in Questband, always in Questband. :)

As for the juniors, it is also time to pick up on your studies too. Do well for your Mid-Year examinations, then we can all focus on the End Of Year Questband Concert. We will show everyone that Questband is the ONLY Aesthetic CCA in QTSS that can hold a full scale concert!

Keep the Questband spirit alive everyone! Don't stop believin'!

Hi guys, Kin Leonn here.

Firstly, I would like to say that it has a been a real pleasure playing music with everyone one of you, especially my section, even though you buggers really infuriate me at times. The journey we've made together has really been great. I'll miss this band alot.

Secondly, I'd just like to emphasize on what I talked about the practice before SYF. Which is that YOU YOURSELF KNOW THAT YOU CAN PLAY GOOD MUSIC, THAT PEOPLE ENJOY THE SOUND THAT THIS BAND PRODUCES! SYF is just a small competition, something that "proves" you are worthy. But really, that "proof" is absolutely subjective to what the judges are feeling that moment. If they don't buy our music, like what Mr. Lim says, it's just suay.

But you have shown many people, including your fellow schoolmates, teachers, alumni and Mr Lim that you are definitely capable and DESERVING of that silver medal, that our standard is already a silver standard. Why do we need the official medal of those judges to prove that we are officially a silver band? Everyone here knows it already. Our performance at the SCH was one of our best and everyone who watched us and has seen us before know it.

The important thing now, though, is to SUSTAIN this standard. The Sec 4s are passing out already, so the rest of Quest Band have to make an extra effort to mantain a good attendance to further improve the overall quality of this band. Mr Lim says he wants a GOLD medal for 2013's SYF, and that is no small feat, I admit. Thus, it's vitally important for all of you to carry on this enthusiasm and spirit in Quest Band! If you guys get a gold, I tell you the whole school will be like OMGWTF! Keep improving, guys! Don't let the spirit die out like what happened after the last SYF!!!!! If we could reach this standard in half a year, imagine the effect reproduced in TWO YEARS! ALL THE BEST IN THE YEARS AHEAD!

This is probably my last post as DM. You know I was never one for making good speeches like Hsin Ern normally does, but yeah here you go.

QUESTBAND's quest for silver

Hi all, Mr Foong here. Surprise surprise. My first blog entry here :)

First off, I must really say this. It truly warms my heart to see how much Questband has grown since the 2nd half of 2010. From a band with extremely low attendance and motivation, to a tightly knit unit today that can actually hit 100% attendance on a regular basis. Words just cannot describe how heartening it is for me to be part of growing Questband together with all of you, to what it is today. All of the teachers-in-charge, Mr Lim and Miss Chia feel the same way too. I assure you that.

I have watched all of you smile and cry throughout this journey. I can see a strong bond amongst Questband members now. To me, what matters the most is to see all of you having the bond to pull through difficulties together and support one another, and to watch all of you grow. That is something so precious and priceless that no amount of money can buy.

It reminds me of my good ol' days when I was in Tanglin Sec Military/Concert Band (TSMB). I was and am still proud to be involved in the band that was initially condemned as a COP standard band, but managed to obtain a Bronze at SYF. We went through the hardships together so much. We cried when we managed to get a Bronze award. We were no longer known as the 'hopeless COP band'. I am proud to say that I'm still in touch with several of the TSMB members even after 15 years!

With that being said, QUESTBAND is capable of so much more. SILVER is what you are going for and really, settle for nothing less. All your blood, sweat and tears over the past few months certainly deserve a silver award.

What is left for you to do is to deliver your best on the actual stage. Silver award will be in your hands, if you stay calm and perform to your potential. DO NOT allow any tinge of nervousness to affect you. All the exchanges and overseas trips thus far should have prepared you enough to overcome stage fright. Play with your hearts and be calm.

For this SYF, I hope everyone will be able to leave the stage this Friday with no regrets. Never shortchange yourself in life. Do your utmost best in everything you do.

I hope that when we receive the results on Friday evening, we will have tears of JOY.

For those who did not make the cut for this SYF, please do not feel disheartened. Cheer for your friends who will be on that stage. If they obtain the silver award, it will be YOUR TURN in the next SYF in 2 years time. You are the next generation. Always believe in yourself, because we do.

Lastly, I leave you with the words that I always tell all of you:
"Remember that feeling"

Remember how it felt when you played well in front of Mr Ang and Mdm Yani the other day? Remember that great feeling. I was very moved by that performance, really.

Bring that same feeling to SYF on Friday and you will do very well.

Hi All Quest Band Member,

Here is Mr Lim, i would like to tell the band that in another 6 more day, everything is ending. i would like to say that quest band have come such a long ways, since i take over the conductor post. actually when i first take the band i dunno where the i could turn the band around. and here 6 month after the band is bonded together. some time i did scold some of u. i hope u all understand i do that is because i care for u all. if i dun care i will even scold u all. anyway . on 8th april. i really don't know where the u all can achieve ur target. i always felt i am not gd enough for quest band seriously because i cannot Cfm a solid sliver for the band. sorry if that day the result did not go for us. i really love this band alot. cos this band thought me really alot on how to teach different type of student. since the day i took the band i have not regret . i would like to say i really don't know i can create any history with u all. i jus hope you all remember this syf with memories that you all spent as a band and also with me. i would like to tell every single one of you involved in one way or another . thanks you for coming for band practice and belief in the Mr Lim you all know. i really have a good memories with you guys. i will always remember hippe cheers you all created. I LOVE EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN QUEST BAND.

Dear Bandies,

I know that many of you are physically and mentally tired from all the intense band practices. But this is the last run. Just 7 more days to go. After these 7 days, we will get a medal that will stay with the band for the next 2 years. Nobody knows what results we will achieve. But I know for sure that if we run this last lap fast enough, we will get to the finishing point with a silver medal.

We have worked so hard to move ourselves up to the next level. Personally, I find it painful to fall back down to square one again, having come so far. Keep pushing yourselves to the limit, and we will succeed.

It is not about how good we sound on one day, but how we play well everyday.

For me, Mr Lim is the reason why this silver is so important. He's given 110% of his efforts to our band. He deserves this silver more than anyone else. He is our hero - the one who picked this band up when it fell. So, for those of you who have no idea what this silver medal is for, it is for the best conductor in the whole wide world :]

Miracles do happen, so let's create one during these 7 days.

Let's keep pushing on. Because we can do it. :]

Bing Ru--- you are actually a bright guy from what i see. i really hope you can translate all ur postive energy toward ur study as well. cos you can go far in life. stop playing le. your n lvl is coming do well in ur n lvl.
Shan qi---- the impression that you gave me is that you are a quiet girl and dun like to talk at all. continue to work hard becos you are the future together with lynn. i am sure you will be a very good player before you leave the band.
Lynn Ang--- i still remember you tell me the reason why you dun come for band when i ask you. haha. anyway u have grow as a player in the band and i also like to call you ah lian.... haha.. pls continue to work hard for your section.

Trombone:
Gek Heng- you have really improve alot as a player and i like your improvisation in music. i still remember when you were junior you always dun wan to attend practice. but nw you are the first one to let me see your score writing sliver 2011. continue to work hard and i know you can help your section and the band.
Sarah: you are actually a very bright and cheerful girl that i know. you have lots of potential to be a very very gd trombone player if you remember wat your tutors teach. anyway tks for last few thursday helping buy food from the canteen.( i always empty stomach come band cos i am rushing from lots of places)
Min Han: i really dun know how to describe you are always asking question that irritate me. but it is ok every band there is such person. i really wan to say is if you transfer your table tennis energy to trombone playing you will be a good player. continue to work hard.

Tuba:
Ding Yuan: you are really a helpful student. you seriously have to watch your ur weight because it is really not gd for health and also you are a good player because you work hard for your section and yourself.continue to work hard. in everything you do( you wan to have buffet with me can , after syf)
Wen Hong: i do not know you very well but i am sure you are a smart guy. carried on working hard for syf 2011 and you are the anchor of 2013 batch of quest band tuba. continue to work hard.

Trumpet.

Jasvinder: you have show so much promised but alot of time you have let me down. but it is okay ., you are a smart guys yu should know there is still time to help ur section and make them improve. i know you would.

Amir : you actually come very far becos at the beginning of last year you actually cannt even play ur trumpet probably and nw you are ok player in trumpet. i really wan to say is that you remember wat i say you will play well in the competition. continue to work hard.

Buvan: you are really a funny character in band. imaging if you can transfer all your time playing table tennis into playing your trumpet do you think u will be a good trumpet player. you actually can do very well but you always dun focus in what is impt. i really hope you can do well in ur studies and band.
Ming Soon: you really is a holiday band member. when last dec you always come for practice and after school reopen you disappear to dun know ava or wat. but i really wan to say remember wat i have taught you all you will be fine. continue to work hard.

Percussion
Nifer: you are a responsible member in the band and you show lots of potential as a leader in the future. continue to work hard and you will really be some where you want to be. you are really a smart student.

Jun Yuan: i called you "ah beng" you always give me a feeling that you bo chap the band and always try to escape band when i first take the band. as the time passed you matured into a young adult and also worked hard in helping your section. i can see all these. continue to work hard. i promise you will have a good future ahead.

Yong Ming: When i first came in the band i called you "korean" and you always ask stupid question and always attention seeking.but as time passed you have become tame as a member, and seriously i know you have good musical sense don't let it goes to a waste. continue to work hard.
Yao Hui: you always give me a feeling of you are super slacked and always sianz band when i first took the band. i really see you mature as a player. becos you have become so consistent in your atttendance and keep it up ok?

Nyi Hein: when i first took the band you were in french horn section and you cannt even play your concert Bb Scale. now you are one of the more hardworking band member in the band. and stop shaking your head when you make mistake is ok. continue to worked hard.

I Would like to say thanks quest band to give me this unforgettable experience with you all as i really loved this band and all these is coming to an end soon and the sec 4 is leaving the band on 8th of april and i really will missed all the laughter and joy you guys bring to the band. i really see the band matured and work hard together always trying to pls me with wat you all played. quest band have already being stored in my memories of the most innocent and cute band that i have took in my band life. I would like to take this opportunity to say certain section in the band have really supported your own team mate in ur section. the percussion section consider you all are the youngest section amount the band and i always can see when some one in the section need help the whole gang of guys will go towards the person help. another section i would to comment is horn, you all have really improve so much from cannt even pitch to decent playing. carry on working hard. and make history for quest band. i will always remember all you guys.

First
BM--- hsin ern... you have really growth strength to strength as a good leader for the band. i know i have been putting lots of pressure on you. but you have not disappoint at all.
BM---Kin Leon- mr ok becos everytime when i say something u say ok but in the end the thing always mess up. but is ok all these are all learning exp in life. really hope you will become some one in life.
Flute Section:
Liu Zheng-- You Always look so blur and always give me a panic feeling. and i will always remember your "spoil Radio" haha.. Hope you will continue to improve and i know you will become better.
Yuan Yuan-- I remember you in sec 1 as one of the brightest student that i teach and now you have hairstyle of a cartoon character. haha..

Clarinet
Hou Yi- u must learn to be more men becos in the future when u go to the army u will be bully inside. thanks for working hard.

Pei shan--- i really can see you have put in alot of effort to be where you are. continue to believe in urself and learn to time manage you time effectively.
Kai Lyn--- you are one of the brightest student that i have taught in quest band. and you have change for the better the last few month. carried your dream in wat you are doing.
Zilia--- you are of gd student when i first taught you when u were sec1. i really hope i can see the old zilia with all the enthu in band.
Jeanne--- i still remember the first day when i taught u in band u are always show no confidence in urself. but the last few month you have shown so much improvement.
Cliton-- when i first see you i find that you are actually a very smart guy in band. is my pleasure to have the chance to teach u.

Tressa-- Pig which i call u . i still remember the first day when you were in band u always stick with zilia and like shy shy de. aft i take over the band i see a diffrent tressa with lots of confidence in urself. really happy you have show so much leadership.

Qui Rong-- Miss Emo... haha becos everytime i see you either u are super high or super sad. you really have to learn to control your emotion. anyway u have come such a long way in the band from one section to another. i really appreciate all your hard work as a librarian. you are my best librarain so far. carried on to work hard.

Edmound--- you always give me a feeling that you are a shy guys. you give me a feeling that you will strike for the best in watever u are doing.continue this way you will go far in life.

Leon- i always felt that you are a mischievous guys in band. but after teaching u for 6 month i felt that actually if you dun know the person you will tok to the person. learn to be more outspoken.

sathki-- i might spell your name wrongly. i would like to say that continue to work hard and stop playing soccer so much u will be a good saxophone player.

Horn
Candy--- miss high Pitch Girl haha. i know i always disturb u but i would like to say is you really improved so much in ur horn playing and you have become more and more mature as a leader. continue to strike for the best.

Ying Qian--- i Still remember the day you ask me with sarah that where the you can join band. and my answer to you is you are most welcome to join. anyway is my pleasure to know you and teach you.
Haziq--- dun be disappointed in ur playing remember it is your second playing ur horn. continue to work hard. trust me you will be a good horn player.

The Other Section i will write by these weekend. sorry i have alot of to complete. anyway i would say thank you quest band to give me such a wonderful experience in teaching you all. i really want to say all a batch of fun loving and east going people that i have thought exactly 2 weeks and 1 day to competition. i know everything will come to a end. i wan to say to you all that if i have not be a good instructor to you all. pls forgive me. i always say i am also learning together with you all. i really love you all this batch of quest band. carry for 2 more weeks.

To quest band 2011 SYF band members. I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single one of you that u have work during these 7 month to the preparation towards the SYF 2011. It been a long way the band have manage to come so far from a band with so much attendance problem to a band that have the motivation to come and achieve 100 percent attendance. I am really very proud of all you because it have not being for you the band will not being moving forward. I would really like to say I love every single one of you . although nowadays I kept scolding all of you all. But I deep down I feel hurt because I dun really like to scold the band. I would like to let all of you know no matter come 8^th of april. What ever result we get does not matters at all, because it is the journey that count the most. I would like too also say to the band it’s is the last lap toward the finish lines. Just give urself a final push to finishing lines. I really really enjoy my time teaching all of you. At time you all can drive me crazy and emo. But not because of all of you my life will not be so colourful. Like what our set piece title memories of friendship. Let these be a chapter of memories within the band and memories that you will not forget in ur life. I know all of you will remember all the scolding you get from me and also all the trip oversea. Let all remember quest band 2011. I know you will do your best to make urself proud and also the school proud. Remember after the performance on the actual day give other hug and say good job( remember girl and girl, boy and boy. No boy hug girls.). no matter what remember that your fat conductor will be with you all performing on that day. So no scared. We will go though these as a band on 8^th of april 2011. let us remember these dates for forever in ur memories.

Malaysia Camp

Hello Band :]

This is just a reminder to all those who are going for the Malaysia trip (17/3-19/3).

1. Bring your school ties! If anyone has extra ties lying around your house, please bring them along. Thanks :D

2. From experience, it may get a little cold on the bus, so bring along your jacket.

3. Girls, please bring along your hairpins/rubber bands (STRICTLY NAVY BLUE/BLACK. No pink, Candy.), and pin up your fringe. And also, bring along some plasters, just in case you start to feel a certain pain/growth (known as blisters) on your heel. Mr Lim says that he does not want to see any girl hobbling about/crying at one corner because your feet hurts.

4. Your personal belongings (e.g. hand phones, cameras, wallets etc.) are brought at your own risk. Please take care of them. The leaders do not want to hear of any misplacement of any valuables.

-) Please, please, PLEASE be on your best behaviour at all times. Do not make unnecessary comments, thank you.

-) If you encounter any problems along the way, seek help from the leaders or teachers.

-) Try to refrain from asking of numbers from the band members of other schools.

-) No unnecessary troubles, please! This trip is not a holiday, so it's going to be really physically and mentally challenging for all of us. We don't want to start scolding people half way through.

-) ALWAYS WATCH THE CONDUCTOR. Yes, especially trombones. Don't be afraid of the crowd. Just focus, play, and learn from the experience. We're all in this together :]

SLs, you're solely in charge of your section. Anything goes wrong, you'll be the first to get it.

And just in case the leaders don't get a chance to address you before the performance, we just want to wish you all the best. It doesn't matter if you make a mistake, just don't repeat it during SYF. You can do it, QuestBand! We have confidence in you. Everybody ( every individual in the band ) can perform well :] Flow with the music, listen to one another, and don't be a hero unless you are a soloist. WATCH THE CONDUCTOR! Mr Blue won't be following us to Malaysia D:

Friday Practice, 11/03/11

What up, guys. Been extremely long since we've updated this blog, sorry about that. We'll try to make use of this blog more often as a form of communication.

Practice starts at 1, so be at band by 12.30 to set up. Ends at 5+ depending on how satisfied Mr Lim is with us.

The attire for practice is the new band tee and any school-based pants.

Of course, please remember to COMPLETE AS MUCH OF YOUR E-LEARNING ASSIGNMENTS AS YOU CAN IN THE MORNING, BEFORE YOU COME FOR BAND. We wouldn't want your teachers complaining that you spend too much time on your CCA, do we? Especially since we're nearing SYF.

Speaking about SYF, Quest Band really has to put in that extra bit of effort in this last stretch, as almost all the teachers have been saying. If you haven't noticed, ALOT of effort has already been put into us by the teachers and conductor. And we've already come really far, further than the last batches, to attaining that silver. It's just the last three+ weeks of extra effort, and you'll be rewarded as the first band in QTSS to achieve a Silver medal. Historic. However, if you slacken up even a little bit, you may just sabotage our combined effort in achieving this goal. Imagine the many months of crazy band devotion just to be screwed up by that little bit of effort you guys refused to put in. Do you want to walk away from the conference hall with a feeling of deep regret? I can tell you, for the last SYF, the feeling of regret we got when we got another bronze was really overwhelming. Or do you want to walk away with the ecstatic feeling of triumph that after the crazy amount of effort you put in, you MADE IT and we attained a SILVER. I really hope that Quest Band will work together for this competition.

Dear band,
This is going to be my last ever post on this blog. I regret not having the chance to speak to you guys after the speech day performance, so I thought that I should just write this for you guys to hear my thoughts and feelings as a once upon a time Band Major of Questband.

In these 4 years, I would say my last year in this band was the most demoralizing and hard year. However, I developed so much leadership qualities through all these. It was difficult at the beginning when I first took up this responsibility, and the constant changing of conductors. To be honest I was really devastated each time the conductors left. It was indeed a roller coaster ride. Did we give up? Certainly NOT! We worked extremely hard to to accommodate their style and yes, even though we did not manage to potray all the characteristics they wanted us to, at least we've improved a hell lot since Day 1.

Despite all the hard times, in these 4 years, I have also had my fair share of good times. Good times are times like Band camps, SYF, and performances. Although we only achieved a bronze in SYF 2007 and SYF 2009 (those two SYFs that I have participated in), it gained me so much exposure and enchanted my music abilities. I can remember so vividly the joy and fun we had during Band camps, and the buckets of tears of shock and disappointment that were shed during SYF. The good times makes me want to remain a band member so I wouldn't have to be left out from all the fun. Sadly, all good things come to an end, and what's left are only the beautiful memories.

Band also made me realise the significance and importance of friendship and teamwork. A piece of music will be incomplete without a particular instrument. Each of us play an important role in music production. Music is just the same as friendship. We will never gain anything for it if we choose to take it for granted.

I will also like to take this opportunity to thank several selfless people who have accompanied me through this uplifting journey. Our Drum Major, Coretta, and our committe members for the loads of contributions and commitment to the band. Our teachers in charge, for their support. Our conductor, Mr Patrick Wong, for his guidance and loads of patience, and our Instructors, Mr Daniel, Miss Chia and Mr Kumar. If not for them, our band's music wouldn't be sounding like what we produced on Speech day. This shows that by working together, we can make the performance a good one.

Now it's to you, my fellow band mates. Even though sometimes I get really pissed off by your sloppy and unserious behaviour in squad, plus your high volume of chatterings during band, you guys are beyond doubt, incredible. Thank you. There are also times where you guys just impress me so much. Especially during fall outs, occasionally the "QUESTBAND!!" comes out so strongly with so much energy and enthusiasm. It never fails to blow me away.

I sincerely wish that your "fire" for band will continue burning strong. And besides that, your "fire" will spread to others. Also, learn and pick up the good things, teachings and the good habits from the seniors.

Now that everything's reforming in the band, I hope that the new committee members will work hard and do their best in their post. Be aware, listen to one another, work together as one and you guys will never go wrong. I believe and have faith in you guys, Questband. I've done my part, so now it's your turn, each and everyone of you. The future of our band lies in all of you guys' hands. Doesn't matter if you're weak or strong, if you all unite and do things as one, it'll definitely be strong.

I will never forget any one of you, band.
So don't forget any of us.

Hey Band, making an early announcement...
Due to this saturday's open house, there'll be band practice exceptionally this monday to prepare for the open house. As you guys know that you are not well prepared at all to display with a piece, so please do attend band 3 times this week punctually.
Knowing that there are changes to the timetable this year, school will end at 1410 this monday.
We will fall in at 1510, set up your instrument, full tuning and welcome our new conductor.
Reminder, everyone should be wearing on their name tags. OWN name tag...
All attire in school uniform and as usual report punctually.
If you cant make it in time, please inform Priya or me before hand.
Any explanation once its passed 1510 shall not be entertained.

okay, so i have already said almost everything i gotta say for the band camp. & thanks priya for updating this blog as my com was dead for quite a period.
So most of all, really have to thank the committee for taking part in organising the band camp.
Hope you guys enjoyed your prizes, especially my group! \m/ whoohoo!! :D cause we got the first prize wheee!

BAND CAMP 2009!

Ok firstly I want to thank all you chickadees in the pictures above for coming for Band Camp December 2009! ^^ You people really made this camp enjoyable and I bet me and Coretta and all the committee members that planned this camp didnt waste our effort. :)

So lets do some reflection now. The aim for this camp was to instill discipline and to create bonding between all of us. Have we achieved that? I think we did well! :) So thumbs up for you all again! Hahaha!

But lets' not let our enthusiasm be short-lived. We must continue to work hard + show more commitment towards band and go HK on June 2010! Ok? ;D

So if any of you wanna borrow home your instruments, call/sms/find/kidnap me or Coretta and we'll get the key for you. Try to borrow it home so that maybe you can practice abit here and there so that you wont get so rusty when band resumes. (Or maybe when you too stressed coz exams starting already then you can use it as a stress reliever and blast your instrument to irritate your neighbours? :P) HAHAHA.

Its held at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage at the Singapore Botanic Gardens at 6PM. Most importanly, (kiasu singaporeans like us only care about 1 thing) its FREE ADMISSION. Where got so good one right?! But yah its so good. So don't miss it okay. It'll be a good show I guarantee you! :)

Hello band~~its~~

Knowing that Mr Kumar is leaving us... Band will officially be taken over and mainly be conducted by Mr Dennis Sim.
All we need is the committment, willingness and cooperation from you guys to make things work.
Simple as can be; just come for every single band practice punctually, listen and do what your leaders and teachers ask you to do and cooperate with them.
Band has finally resumed after SYF due to many other factors.
I'm pretty sure you guys didnt do your pencil exercise and whatsoever.
So in order to play properly and hit every note right, also to improvise on your playing skills...
Sectionals will soon be implement on every monday, 1600 - 1800 for the main band.
Practice will stop at 1730 and officially be dismiss by 1800. (1.5 hours duration)
It's just a little more that you can give to make the band sound better, so please, do it.
After the SYF, everybody has come closer and be more devoted to the band.
You guys use to attend band every single day for about 3 hours during the SYF period.
This committment and love for the band is commendable.
Thus, it will be good if this spirit continues.
Doesn't mean that SYF ends, there is no need for you to put in your fullest efforts.
If we are good, we may have chances to go out of Singapore for exchanges or Competition as mentioned by Mr Sim.
But that has to depend on every single one of the member in the band, not excluding the Sec 1s, if you want to have such glory and chance to experience more stuff with the band.
So please, all we are asking for is to have your full attendence punctually and cooperate with the teachers and conductors. Thank you.

Quick update for you all. Band practices are not resuming yet. Band is starting next week.

However there's some notice board competition coming up. So we have to get the band notice board done up asap, latest by Thursday! In case any of you don't know where the band notice board is, its next to the Bookshop.

and then, the final attendance for today is 51!!! whoohoo! finally hit my target, the last band prac this holiday
alright, from now on.. Mr Kumar said that band practice will be upgraded to band rehearsal
so, band rehearsal = band practice from now on. LOL
and today, all the sec 1s have got to know your sec 3 seniors.

there's a few issue i have to talk about today
1. holiday homework

Issue 1
you guys are suppose to submit a holiday homeowork the next time we have band rehearsal, am i right?
so this is the task
Step 1: find 10 classical composers (preferably dead)
Step 2: find 3 major work a composer has done, respectively
AND
- who is the original composer of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star/ABC/Blah Blah Black Sheep (please do not take out your Foundation of Performance score and insert the name Yogoto okay -.- LOL! that one is not. plus, he's still alive. hahah)
so this is it, just 3 task. okay?

Issue 2
tomorrow, the cleaning up of the room is cancelled.
people who have to come at 8 to give Mr Kumar letters also has been cancelled
so nobody should come to school tomorrow, and friday also.
but, we will have it on next week instead, on Monday.
People who have to come are: Coretta, Priya, Rica, Bing Ru, Nigel, Malcolm, Elvin, Lionel, Yip Soon

today.. you guys are very lucky because a few of the band members went back to pack up the crazily messed up and dusty band store.

we packed up to the room, though its not very neat, yet. or extremely clean..
but you should have seen, the band store before our packing... -.- omg

its only 3 days within that 30 days of holiday, that we're having practice

Hi Everyone!

How are all of your results?? Surely not as shitty as mine..

Anyway please remember to come for band as there are band practices next week, Monday 8th June, Tuesday 9th June and Wednesday 10th June. Please do not be late! Band starts at 8.30AM so best if you reach by 8AM. Attendance is complusory k. There is only 3 pathetic practices for this whole month so please ensure your pressence.

Even though syf's over.. Doesn't mean slack k! We still have 1 or 2 performances we have to prepare for. Excited?? EXICTED?? Yea I am! woohoo.

How have you all been?! I know that midyear suxxx. Ahah. But try your best to do well alrightey? Band members are smart! :B Anyway, work hard for your remaining papers and we'll see each other real soon. Thr's like a few more performances for the band till the Sec 4 leaves. So, it ain't goodbye yet ok ;B I think there will be party soon, not sure when. Hopefully la hor?

Ok, so I shall stop blogging. I decide to blog 'cos it seems like band blog rather empty after Syf, and who says that it's gonna fade away once syf is over?! It just means that you all have to start practicing for the next syf now!! Hiakhiak! :D Kidding la! Anyway, all the best for your exams, own it alright :B

*Btw SLs, it would be good if you all could sms me the names of those who are intending to go for the NIE concert! It's good, so I think everyone should go. Sec 1,2,3, and even 4/5 if you all are willing. It's one day before O lvl chinese paper, but I think we can still handle the paper right. Besides, last min work ain't going to help much! Pretty soon, the seniors are all going to step down from band. Band practices may not be the same ever again. It's going to be different for you, me, all of us.

I'll be honest with you.
There was this period of time where I hated band so so much. I totally dreaded going for band practices. Attendance was horrible, discipline was nowhere to be found. No one felt motivated, no one felt the urgency for anything. I even wanted to quit, I wanted band out of my life entirely so hell freaking much. But it was only months till SYF then, so I stayed on.
Things began to undergo many changes, and people's attitudes start to change. Suddenly, I wanted that silver so much. I wanted all of us to achieve that silver.
Band practices then changed to being 6 days a week. Six days out of seven, was alot to many of you, even me. But you guys still went for them, and I thank you all so much.

Yes, we had an unstable rocky start, but look at where these past few months have brought Questband to. Look at where we're standing now. Look at us. We may not have achieved silver, but hell, so what? People may criticize us, but that's because they don't know a thing that we have been through. But you know, don't you? And I do, too.

I can't bear to think how things will be after we seniors step down. I don't even want to think about it... This may sound cliche, but Questband have brought me so much joy, so many wonderful memories. Attending band practices weekly feels like something that's part of my life. It feels like something that's necessary. We really feel like one huge family, no?

Questband shall always remain in my heart, along with each and every one of you. And I hope your heart has all of us in it too. I'll definitely miss you guys, definitely.

Questband, we stand together forever.

2 more days till SYF'09
Scary how time passes so quickly, no?
How are you guys feeling now?

This is our very very last lap. Ask yourself, how badly do you want a silver? These past few weeks of practices were indeed very tiring, I agree. But I believe it's all worth it. Don't you think so? Look at where Questband is standing now, we have really come a long way.

On 7th April, up on the stage of Singapore Conference Hall's, many of us will feel frightened. Perhaps we'll even tremble. But remember, we are up there to perform. We are up there to bring music to the audience. Reach into the pieces, feel the music, feel each and every beat. Allow the audience to feel the same way as you.

Remember the slow movement in Heatherwood Portrait? Move along with the rhythm, move along with the song. Those few minutes of the song are meant to be sad, so express that sorrow through the music we play. Let the audience feel it.

Figure E and K of Overture No.1, do bounce along. Mr Kumar told us before that whenever we reach that part, he'll feel as if he's in a funfair. But Mr Kumar feeling it alone is not enough. We have to feel it ourselves, we have to let the audience feel as if they are in a funfair as well.

Over the past few months, Mr Kumar really had done alot for us. Many of the things he did behind-the-scenes, you don't even know. Remember those band xchanges that we had been to during the month of February? Had it not been for Mr Kumar, we won't be exposed to other bands at all. Remember those many section tutors that came down? Had it not been for Mr Kumar, do you think anyone would actually be bothered to help us?

What about Mr Daniel and Mr Firdaus? When we're having sectionals, who is the one going around helping out with as many sections as they can? Who is the one teaching the sec1s, the future of Questband?

There's only this much that I can say, there's only this much that many of us can help. It eventually balls down to each and every one of you. Like what Mdm Yani said, it only requires one moron to say 'Bronze is enough', and the whole of Questband's morale will be dampened. Don't be that moron, cause we really don't want any.

We have come so far together as a band, and it's just two more days.
It's all up to you.

After SYF, things are going to get a change. But no matter what, do not forget what we have been through.

Hey guys, we're left with like - 6days.
I hope you all cherish all the time that we have left. I do no think I want to waste my energy entertaining people at the tag board, ultimately I believe that they aren't band members. Or if they are, they are absolutely shameless. Alright back to the topic. Like what Mdm Yani said, I believe that we can definitely get a silver if we put our heart and soul into it. I hope that we can play our pieces with Jubilance. This is the word I want to give you all. Although I know that it might be very tiring to attend band practices everyday, and even have to shift your pre-planned schedule, I am really sorry, but I hope you understand, and want to take part in the silver. Honestly, I cannot judge anything from the results of the past two days, but I am very motivated to get a silver. I want us to get a silver, not because I think that luck is on our side, but I BELIEVE that we already are. It's like there, take it. Don't be shy or whatsoever, maximise your fullest potential. Hey guys, just so you all know. We have nine days more to our syf, and seven days left to practice. That means, we have only 1 week left to practice everything we have left. Right now, I don't want to mention what to get. I just want to mention one very important thing. Throw away whatever you all have for the next 7 practices, and make sure that you come for every band practice. Thats all I want from you all. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and lastly, Monday. Is it really TOO MUCH, TOO MUCH TO EXPECT ALL THESE FROM YOU ALL?! I don't want to mention who hasn't came for practices for the last two weeks. DO YOU ALL KNOW HOW DISCOURAGING IT IS WHEN YOU HAVE TO SEE blanks in the attendances list? And all these people, will be tagging along into the SYF. For people who come daily, and work hard daily. Is this the result you think you want?! You slogging your guts out, and those absence people come and join in SYF, and if they don't know what to play, congrats to all of us. If they don't crescendo, and decrescendo which is currently the most EFFING IRRITATING PROBLEM. Cos' WE JUST CAN'T GO SOFT. Whats the problem?! And people who skips practices think their so darn great. Are they?! Are they?! For the next week, I expect FULL ATTENDANCE. Literally, FULL. No blanks. You have piano, tuition, or whatever, shift it to another time that does not clash with band. Please. I don't want to come down harsh, but co-operate for just one more week alright? After one more week, you don't even need to see my face. You don't even need to hear my crap. You can freakking hate me for all I care. I don't give a damn. But I will make sure that this WHOLE WEEK. Hey people, just to let you all know that this blog will be updated daily. So, please make it a point to visit this blog at least once per day. Make sure you know what's happening and all sorts. Also, whenever there is an annoucement, I will place it here too.

Alright, a general comment on today's practice - discouraging, and DISGUSTING. I seriously do not know how many of you really want to achieve a silver. And base on our punctuality, I think it is really a turn off. Like what Kumar said yeah, Syf is like two weeks away. Is it that difficult to shove everything aside and focus for these two weeks? Shift tuitions to a Sunday slot, and make it for every band practice. I know that midyear examinations are important, neither am I denying you all of the rights, and need to study. But I just want you all to think. Within this two week, if we really divert our heart and soul into the band, I think a silver is not that out of reach. I hope you all think about this for a while. ):

Also, there are two things I think we need to work on.
1) Sense of urgency:
C'mon people. Can't things be done quickly? And please be more responsive to whatever instructions that have been passed down to us. Seriously, two weeks ain't much, lets cherish it alright? Please. I'm sure that none of us would rather get bloody bronze right? Why live to regret, why take risks? Why forget stuffs that has been drilled into us since like forever. Why would you want to make yourself come out of Singapore Conference Hall and cry tears of regret?! Please, wake up from your NAIVE dream. Lets make the freaking silver medal possible for yourself, the band, the conductors and the teachers. I hope you all understand what all these fuss is about. Get this message into your head k? I'm not blabbering bullshit right now. Just think of the future "opportunities" after attaining a silver medal alright?

2) Inject more feelings into your music:
As much you don't want to see noobshit actors up in movies, no one wants to hear your boringshitass, no emotions music. Don't think that every thing is graded on your playing skill, appearances counts k. The moment you step into the hall till the moment you leave the hall, you are under scrutiny. Like a magnifying glass, people will observe you very very intently. Every expression, and interpretation of the music is important. Let the music flow through your body, really feel the adreline rushing within you. I can't force such things upon you, it's all up to you. Just don't let the judges minus points for ridiculous things such as these. Think about it, is it worth it to lose marks just like that?

I hope this message really gets across to you all. We're all teens, we aren't dumb, we can do it if we want to. Don't let anything stop you in getting what your potential allows. If you think that you need someone to shout in your face, tell me. I will do it, I will wake you up. Take care, and do your homework guys ((:

Let that word be engraved into your head. Remind yourself that if we get bronze again, we might have to suffer for the next two years. But if we get silver, there are so much more greener pastures for the next batch. I know the seniors might not be able to share the fruit of our labour, but isn't it nice to have fond memories that we've gotten silver before we left? I hope that you all remind yourself the difference between a silver band and bronze band. We must prove that we are capable of getting a silver. Imagine getting a silver and coming back from syf that day, and your friends are all in school. You can hyper, cry, dance and whatever. Cause we got silver (: I'm not saying silver is like super bigshot, but at least we can be proud of our hardwork. Questband, we are definitely capable of a silver, do not let negativity blind you. Instead, remember to always feel the heartbeat and hear the essence of the band. Strive on questband, it's less than three weeks, and it will all be over. Give yourself what you deserve, give your band what you deserve and lastly, give kumar, and all the other teachers what they really deserve for their efforts. Don't forget everything they said, and remember that on syf day itself, it's the spirit that counts (: All the best! Just, tell yourself, you don't want to come out of singapore conference hall and... shed tears of regret. By then I think it's too late perhaps?

31 freaking damn days left till SYF

What are you guys still doing? It's not as if we still have months to go. We're only left with one pathetic month to get everything right. Where's the sense of urgency? Where's your sense of committment? My dearest sec4s, do you actually remembered what happened in the previous SYF? Do you still want to get a bronze? If you want your members to be committed to band, everything has to start from you yourselves.

I know homework is piling up like nobody's damn business, and we have 5 band practices every week, including sectionals. There're tests after tests after tests. I understand. Still, to the sec3s and 4s, do you want to leave Queenstown with the regret of not being able to achieve a silver? It's your very last SYF in secondary school already. And to the sec2s and 1s, don't screw up your first SYF.

Hey guys, I think we did quite a good job today, and I think you all were quite responsive. Give yourself a pat on your shoulder (: However, like what Mr. Kumar has said, we sure have plenty to work on. I hope that within the next few weeks before our SYF, you guys will start to really listen to the soul of the music. I think we need to inject more emotions and feelings into our playing (: {Not that I am the best player ;x} But I think we can definitely improve on the musical feel. I shan't talk much, and go think about the question I ask in the beginning of the post. Will you want to come out and cry tears of regret. So rather shed tears of joy. I think we did relatively well, and I really really thank all the people who came at like 7:00a.m. to set up the chairs, and later on set up all over again, really appreciate your efforts ;B I think we played quite well for today's exchange, tho' I did make mistakes too ;x Don't worry, we can still make it! Remember that a few minutes a day spent on thinking about your music scores are very much significant. 21 February- Questband's very own Band Xchange

Hello hello hello! :)
How was today's band xchange?

Well first of all, many of us really appreciate all of your efforts today. Especially when it comes to moving of chairs and arranging them, thank you very very much. I know, it's like 7 early in the morning, yet you guys have to start perspiring like pigs already. Though last minute, we managed to rearrange our performing area and also to arrange hundreds of chairs for the guest schools. Really thank you very much, with special mention to the percussionists. :)

Still, the teachers noticed that there are obvious areas that can be improved on, with things like us lacking of enthusiasm when playing and attending to the guests. Well, we'll improve, won't we?

Three xchanges down, one more to go.

Hello band members! Have you all done your homework for school? Please remember to finish up your homework before going to school on Monday, tho' CCA is hectic, please do not use it as an excuse to not complete homework {that includes myself} Haha, so yeah please complete all your homework :B

'Bout Sat's exchange, what are your thoughts? I think we did alright didn't we? Please remember that you are as strong as your weakest member. Do not think that you're already godlike, neither should you belittle yourself. We function together, if one band member rocks - we all rock. But if one member sucks - we all suck. However, I feel that we all have many things to improve on. The first most important thing I think the band should improve on is it's sense of urgency. Please! When I get you all to do something, do not drag your feet and move slowly. Also, our discipline can be improved much more. I know I am a very talkative person, I admit. But it is important to keep quiet at certain times. When Kumar is trying to put a point across, please please please listen. And when I make annoucements, listen too! Don't end up being blur about everything ok? Otherwise I think we are fine ;D

Playing wise I suppose Overture 1 is moderate, but Heatherwood is quite bad. I am not pointing out any particular point of the song, but I think during the exchange we fumbled quite a bit. But that is ok, please do not give up during this period of time. If one suck, we all suck. Remember that! Please take note of whatever Kumar or any conductors tells you, especially about parts that you need to come out. We will have another exchange in a week time and we will be hosting it this time round, meaning other schools will come to our school. Please show your best attitude, and try to be as friendly as possible ok? I hope that during the next exchange you all can be more hyper and enthu. I know all of you can scream, shout and make merry. Instead of dreading it, why not try to enjoy it as much as possible. I hope you all can see that, no matter what, things have to happen. Why make yourself feel sucky? Instead, have fun! ;B

I shall not nag anymore, but I hope that this talk actually gets across to you all. I hope you all have a nice weekend, and I'll see you all in band on Monday 16th Feb, 3:00pm at 1A class room. Btw, don't forget to shift the things up to 1A. Logistics it will be hard on you, but strive on ;p

I'm sure in some way or another, you must have learnt something from the other five schools. Were you guys trembling when we awaited for our turn? Were you nervous, were you scared? I bet many of you were, because I too was pretty much unsettled myself.

After today, I guess you should have a little idea of where Questband stands. We have 2 more months till SYF, how much we can do within this period of time depends on all of you. Not on Mr Kumar, not on any other conductors... But you, and all of you. Up till now, we still have members not wanting to come for practices. Kind of ridiculous, no? The next few weeks are really crucial for the whole band. We have got to learn and improve as much as we could. 2 months may seem long, perhaps you think long enough to probably fool around now. But hell no, 2 months is just this short. So I really really hope all Questband members will turn up for all practices. I know having 4 practices per week can be rather tiring, but do take note that other schools' practices are even more insane than ours.

Plus I also do hope to see full attendance for the next three band exchanges. It isn't an everyday thing that we can get to see and hear other bands. So please make full use of this chance to get yourself to be more exposed to music.

Let's look forward to all practices and exchanges from on, shall we?

Do you believe we are the glow worms?

Success is often based on our ability to believe that we will succeed. And what is succeeding? What is Success? Why should we even work towards 'success' even though it doesn't benefit me?

All this questions, will eventually be answered after SYF. How can success be defined for yourself, you can decide. 3 months left down the road, this crucial period of time (maybe even those before that have passed) will decide what we will get for SYF 09.

I believe we are a glow worm, we are glow worm amongst other normal worm. We can be one if you believe that you are one too. You can be one if you work hard to.

No matter what result we may get in SYF09, in the end nothing matters, seriously nothing matters. The only definition of success then is your memories. How will SYF 09 be stored in your head? How will you tell others about SYF09? How will you feel when you think back? Will it be that of joy and happiness, or sadness and regret?

Four last holiday practices.
Four months more to Syf.
In a blink of an eye, Syf'2009 is heading our way. For the Sec 3(s), it may startle memories of the previous syf. For me, I have very strong feelings for it. How is it for you? I'm sorry, that I may sound really emo for this entry, but it's solely because I really feel this way, and I really want to share my thoughts on it, just like every drum major does. I may not be bold enough to speak confidently to all of you all just yet. But I, like every drum major wants my band to do well.

The main thing I hope to see at the end of my leadership, is a band that is bonded. It's isn't easy I would say. Actually, I never really realise something till today. When I am planning the camp with the committee, I kept thinking that by the end of the camp, I will have a bonded committee. But I guess I'm wrong. It's the process, the process of planning, laughing, arguing, fighting, objecting, disapproval of games, the headache for meals that really bonds us. Same goes for you all. Syf itself won't bond us, but the process instead, it's the practices, the tiring practices, that your section leaders and friends call you up to attend that really bonds us together. Ultimately, a camp is definitely good, and I'll try my best to organise a camp next march holiday.

I know that, for the Sec 2(s) and 1(s) you all were not involved in the previous syf. (Except for some of you) Thus, you may not understand where I'm coming from. Let me now share with you about the previous syf, at 1:05am in the morning. The past band, was a bonded band, that I cannot deny. We had our practices from Monday to Saturday, early morning to late evening. No one complained. But now, the Sec 3(s) seem to be not as enthusiastic as compared to the past. May I ask why? Although there have been changes, but as compared to last time, we are luckier. Aren't we? We trained hard, but maybe not enough. We've gotten only a bronze. At that moment when the sentence, "queenstown secondary school... bronze." was announced, tears started to fall. Yes, tears. For the Sec 2(s) and 1(s), you all may not have experienced it, but it's a feeling you all do not want to experience. Maybe now, band isn't a very important part of your life. Maybe it's only a burden. But, why is it a burden?

We have good conductors like, Mr. Kumar, Mr. Jack Lim, Mr Daniel. Don't we? And if you feel that they scold too much, I don't think so. They have been really tolerant with us. In the past, I used to have another perspective. But when your attitude changes, everything changes. Me and mandy can only do so much, the committee can only do so much, Miss Azlina and the conductors can also only do that much. The rest of it is up to you. I feel that, what we need to do, is to really remember what they instructors have taught during band practice. After writing down all that needs to be written on your scores, go home, and take out your band file, look through it, sing your parts. It won't even take up to an hour. I hope that no one will have the mentality that they are a professional already. We should push ourselfs to our limits. We must have the will, the DESIRE to want to get a silver. If you think silver is easy, it's not. But it's not difficult either. There are many things you get to choose yourself, I shall not say too much or else you'll find me very naggy, as I already am.

But I tell you, if you want a silver.
You will get it. Cause the rest of the band is there.
It's just a matter of how much you want.
Once you are convinced that you want a silver, you want to be bonded with the band.
Let fate do the rest, it's like magic. Trust me (:
Strive on Questband, show your willpower :D

Band is big community, thousands of band members out there that you can actually click with, and it's a talent, a plus point to be able to play a instrument, please don't think that it's lame. Rather than sulking and thinking that it sucks, might as well be lame (if you think it is) for once, and participate, have fun ok? Don't feel sad if you're grouping isn't what you want, bond with whole band, mix around and make friends with everyone :D

Band Committee Outing!

Firstly, I want to thank all committee members who took part in this outing. Secondly, I want to thank Mr. Kumar and Mr. Daniel for gracing the occasion too. Third, I want to thank those people who helped out in buying all the ingredients and preparing the food.

Dear Committee, I seriously hope that this outing is a meaningful one, and even if we didn't play any bonding games, I hope that you all have seriously bond together, and know that it is important to make sure that the committee is together. Just like how everyone helped to carry the food to east coast park, how Habib, Farhan, Enzhao rotate the big big heavy box among each other. Just like how you all helped each other in rollerblading, how you all fell on your butts and clinged on each other for support. Just like how Farhan and Habib helped me in trying out the bicycle, how they taught me step by step how to ride it. Just like how we couldn't start a sucessful fire among ourselves, and relied on our conductors (Kumar/Daniel) to save the BBQ night. I hope that you all can take example from these events and apply it to the band. No matter what, we should always stick together. Within ourselves we can accomplish that much of things, and although within ourselves we cannot accomplish certain things, we have to put our trust into our conductors to help us through the crisis. It is just a simple logic of building teamwork and trust. As long as we are united, nothing can bring us down. A bronze, silver, gold is merely a medal. Seriously, if at the end of the day, I see that our committee is really really bonded, and is willing to make sacrifices for each other, I wouldn't feel hurt even if we got COP. (of course I don't want to get COP la) But, a medal is only a medal. Even if we got a gold, but we weren't united, 10years later, who will actually remember what you get? But if we got a silver, with a bonded committee, the friendship/bond stays forever. Seriously, forever. I know I sound really really cliche here, all the mushy and corny words, but it works. No post is higher than any post, ranking is superficial, Drum Major, Band Major, whatever. Let me tell you, WE ARE NOTHING WITHOUT A BONDED COMMITTEE. So, I want to thank all committee again, and I hope to see us working well for a sucessful and astounding band camp during the december holidays! Hey guys. Just so you know, attendance for the past few days have been alot better than usual. And for that, I really really want to thank all of you.

Yes, I know. Waking up early in the morning to reach school by 8+ am is no easy thing to do, and pretty much of a chore. And to practice for 7 to 8 hours everyday sometimes can really be killing. Getting our lips both numb and sore throughout is not one's ideal holiday, no? But whatever it is, I hope you guys know that all these practices are really essential to build up Questband.

And like what Mr Tan said to us and to Mr Kumar, we are improving. No rather, we have improved alot already. But alot is still not enough for us to achieve that Silver everyone have been yearning for. Thus, please please please continue to go for band practices next week.

Hey guys. I am not sure how many of you will actually read this, but I am going to give it a shot.

The band's attendance has not been up to expectations lately, I am sure you know of this. Despite the many unbearable naggings Mr Kumar and the committee has given, some of you still do not wish to come for practices. Seriously speaking, I do not know why. We chased after you guys, called you all personally and even to the extend of calling to your homes, many still did not budge. Some try to run away at the sight of us, some pretended that we have called the wrong numbers, some give stupid excuses... Many of us have had enough.

Ask yourself, what is the point of all these? Is it worth it?

I know many of you did not join band willingly, as you guys did not put band as your first choice for CCA. But it is October already, no point whining over these matters. You are now in band, and you are a band member -hence go for practices. Maybe you guys think this is unfair, and we are forcing you to do something that you do not like. But let us just face it: Life is unfair. Let us just make the best out of whatever we have.

Questband - we are one big family.

My dearest sec 3 members, have you forgotten how band was like last year before SYF? Remember how we, as a whole band, struggled pieces after pieces of music before finally deciding on Into The Light as our choice piece? Remember how disastrous our band sound like when we first started preparing for SYF'07? Remember those thousands of practices we had, those five days per week practices? Yes, though five days per week, remember how all of us go for every single practice without ever complaining? Remember those laughters? Remember the joy? I am sure many of you have not forgotten these.

Yes, we held an aim of silver last year. But we got a bronze. Why? Because we started our preparation late. Do you guys want the same thing to happen again? We had our hopes held so high, but it all came tumbling down at once as the announcer announced that Queenstown Secondary Band has had gotten a bronze. Remember how many seniors cried immediately? I am sure even till now, they have regretted not having to work harder to achieve a better medal. Do you want to regret like them too? SYF does not come every year, it comes only once per two years. For the sec 3s, next year's SYF will be the second one for you. You are given a chance to do this again. Do you want to regret once more?

We have gone through many past events together. Yes, we get reprimanded by the teachers and instructors every now and then. But why? Because they want us to be better. Try appreciating those efforts made, instead of constantly complaining.

Please, do it for the sake of the band.
Do come for practices.

Fees for the workshop have been subsidised by 60%.
Pupils are supposed to pay $12 to the teachers I/C

Pupils are reminded to be at their best behavior, as they are representing the school's band for the workshop. To avoid humiliation infront of other school's band, pupils are reminded not to make a fool out of themselves, and be enthusiastic about this workshop. To invoke your passion for band, let me ask you the following questions:
As a member of Questband, do you automatically have the innate feelings to bring the band to a greater height? Do you aspire to be the best player in your section?
